Tasmania has had a long connection with the Antarctic, and The Royal Society of Tasmania’s library reflects that connection. The library also contains a large collection of volumes on the Arctic, and of course, the search for Sir John Franklin’s doomed expedition in search of the Northwest Passage fascinated the people in Tasmania who knew him from his time as Lieutenant-Governor of the fledgling colony.
