The Work: Bri Lee in conversation with Rachel Edwards

Although a book of non-fiction, there are shades here of Elena Ferrante. Most particularly, Ferrante’s evocations of motherhood, the sacrifices, the tussles, the sort of limbo a parent lives in between their own ambitions and the demands of family life. Not enough is written about it, but Hobart-based author, Helen Hayward, has dived in headfirst. A very revealing, honest account of parenting in which she shares lessons from everyday life.
Come along for a discussion of finding balance between parenting and wanting one’s own life. Helen will be in conversation with Kyia Clayton, Director of the Tasmanian Film Festival.
Join Helen for the launch of A Slow Childhood at Fullers Bookshop.
Tickets are free but booking is essential as places may be limited.
