From teaching English to East Timorese orphans, to tending wounded Coalition soldiers choppered into her surgical team from deadly battles on the Afghan dust, Sharon Bown’s story is that of a sheltered civilian nurse from Tasmania becoming a military Nursing Officer and a commander.

Her military service in Afghanistan and beyond was unique, varied and far-reaching but came at the cost of her physical and mental health. With a broken back, shattered jaw and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Sharon has paid the price for a remarkable and inspirational career in the Royal Australian Air Force.

Join Sharon Bown for the Tasmanian launch of One Woman’s War and Peace at Fullers Bookshop.

Tickets are free but booking is essential as places may be limited.
